hi,
i need to rename a serie of files(76).
the program i´m working with(3d) will only read an image sequence if the number is after the file extension.
so i´m left with 76+ files to rename.
is there a way to change all of them at once?
i can rename one by one but i´ll be ko doing it.
i have Car0001.jpg and i need to turn to Car.jpg.001 etc...
is this possible?

Hi Carlos,
I don't mean any disrespect to FJ but you certainly can rename a group of files all in one step. However, it can't not be done in Windows Explorer, you'll need a script. It can be done with any number of scripting languages, i.e. VB script, Perl, even a DOS batch file. My preference would be a Perl script, partly because Perl is a powerful scripting language and would/could be platform independent, also I'm rusty at writing DOS batch files.
If you post this question in the programming section either here at computing.net or at www.experts-exchange.com, you'll be given several different scripts to choose from. If you'd like me to write the Perl script, let me know. Keep in mind that Microsoft doesn't include the Perl interpreter with Windows, so you'll need to download it from http://www.cpan.org/ports/index.html#win32. IT'S FREE!
