i managed to f*** up win2k so i parallel installed it to be able to get rid of the old installation. but cos i have a dual boot system, win98 and win2k, would just deleting the old windows directory mess up the way my comp boots up? can someone please advise me how to remove my old win2k installation without messing something up?

cheers

As long as you can clearly identify which version of W2K (i.e. its folder on the HD) you can safely delete it from within 'the good version' of W2K or '98 - via Explorer.

Ensure your default OS to boot is NOT that duff version...

Also edit the boot.ini to remove references to the deleted version to tidy that item up.

If you're not totally happy/comfortable at editing the boot.ini you can leave it as is; the minor entry referring to the delete/duff version (two lines) will/should not be a problem in the future.

Once you are happy that you can still boot the good version and '98, run Defrag to clean up HD.

Just make sure you identify clearly the version you are deleting - before you do so!
