I have started getting errors almost daily on IE6 saying it has generated errors and needs to close and several other msgs. Also have a couple of other programs that do this. have scanned with virus and trojan software and nothing shows. I read about reg cleaners that will scan and get rid of reg data that causes this. Netcom3 seems the best. anyone had experience with these products at all?? Of course I will fully back up my system before using it.
Any input appreciated. thanks

I always use Cleaner myself to clean up a plauged PC http://www.ccleaner.com
Though always try SFC from a NT Command Prompt first to ensure System Files are AOK.
Then run Windows Live One Care Safety Scanner:

Yep...CCleaner. Run the Cleaner, then "Scan for Issues" & fix all of them

During the installation, don't allow Yahoo! Toolbar to be installed too...uncheck the box. Also, you may wanna uncheck the box next to "empty recycle bin" & just empty it yourself occasionally
I run CCleaner at least once a day.

I used a Registry Cleaner once. This was a few years ago, and I don't remember which program it was. It cleaned my Registry so well that it took the system state back 8 months! NOT a good thing.
I rely on manual cleaning now, but I'm comfortable working in the Registry (without using a tool).
Life's more painless for the brainless.

I would be very careful with these programs. In the end, they are trying to manage the OS in a better way ... but the problem is that these vendors are not the OS vendor, which makes that they do not have all the information on how the registry really works.
From time to time I go into the registry, for a little tweak here and there, but I would not thrust programs doing "cleanup".
There is a lot of information in there, and reading it is interesting, but changing ... I don't know.
Issue with registry are mostly related to uninstall issues, and issues with program interoperabilities (be it MS or non-MS programs).
My experience is that MS programs have most issues with registry, because they are tighly integrated with the OS, and they do not dare to remove entries, like non-MS programs dare to do.
I had a big problem with MS Media Player once, which led to OS reinstall.
I would say : if IE doesn't work, raise a call to Microsoft (you have a license for something), and in the mean time, use another browser.
I like Internet Explorer, but the best solution is to have Internet Explorer next to a browser that works at least as good, and use that one.
Hi there.
