I want to reformat my hard drive but my problem is I don't know how. I have Windows 2000 Pro SP2 and I want to reformat my hard drive then install Windows XP. Can someone help me with this? What do I need to do?
I believe there are issues when installing an operating system on top of another operating system. Formatting with a boot disk and wiping your drive in DOS eliminates that problem.

phatindy infers from the recommendation of start up the xp install from booting the cd is that you can wipe, repartition, format and install all from the cd. Formatting the drives partition(s)would be enough for a clean install of the xp OS

Just remember to backup your files; email, favorites, etc before you wipe the system.
