Hi guys...
I just want to know how do I reformat win 2K with a boot disk. I wanna do a clean install of win 2K without upgrading it from win 98.
Thanks.

j3r3my

PS: I have a Win 2K Pro but it's not an upgrada CD.

Make sure your bios is set to boot from your cd drive first then boot with the win2k in the drive and follow instructions. It's not difficult, but you should check to see if your hardware is win2k compatible. There is no comparison between win2k and win98 so go for it.

If you mean that you want to get rid of 98 and install 2000, just start the computer with the 2000 CD in the CD drive, and it will show you the way. Make sure you make a back up of anything you want to keep, otherwise you will lose it all.

I went to Microsofts site. They suggested to down load the boot disks. It's been a while since I did this. I believe you download the whole program and then create 4 boot disks from it. (It's all in a set of instructions) Then format the drive you want to install 2000 on. Turn off the computer, put in Disk1, turn the computer back on and follow the instructions. I've used this method a half a dozen times now with much better results than trying to do it all from the CD. I don't know why it makes any difference, but it has for me.

monsignor...

You can make the four W2K boot/setup-floppies via the util that's on the CD.
