What did you format it with?

And since it's an HP, it may have a 'restore' partition and/or other, maybe hidden, partitions.

Start over again. Partition and format within the Windows 2000 setup, and then continue with the installation.

its not allowing me to do that.. I think i know what i need to do.

Get a book disk reformat and set the partiton active

and then install

because when i used norton it never gave me the option to set as active or anything so when the installation is doing it and it restarts it just says NO OS found.

Anyone have a link to a boot disk?

You shouldn't need to set the partition active. The install will do that for you.

Doesn't sound like you set your bios to boot cd before hard drive. That's important if you want to install from cd.

Are you using a retail Win2000 CD or an HP Recovery CD? If it's a recovery CD, it needs to access the hidden partition that was mentioned. If you wiped it out with Partition Magic, the Recovery CD is useless.
