rebooting and active desktop recove

OS: win 2000 pro
CPU/Ram: celeron

system boots up to desktop. Message comes up that says active desktop recovery. Before I can do anything it reboots. Gets to same spot again and continues to reboot. Can boot in safe mode. Ran Norton and no viruses were found. Ran ad ware and got rid of a bunch of mess. Ran spybot and got rid of some more. Not sure what has been added to desktop recently. Child uses this particular computer. Help!!!!!!

I'm having a strange rebooting problem after the desktop loads too, but I don't see that message.

In safe mode can you view the event viewer? Does it have any messages?

No messages. read on this sight to defrag and run scan disk. that seemed to work.
