Comment:

Out of the blue computer failed on start up.
Went into safe mode, did checkdisk, but now
it will not even go into safemode. Blue screen error message is too fast to read.
Any ideas? Will a re-install delete all old data? Thanks!

Try a Repair before reinstalling. Boot with the 2000 CD in the CD-ROM and begin the installation process. When asked, choose the Repair option.

"Try a Repair before reinstalling."

OK, thanks, but since I have NTFS already,
will a new install erase existing data?

and

Is there a way to read the error message?
It just flashes and is gone. What's up with
that? How does MSFT expect you to read it
in .1 seconds? All I got was "corrupt".
