Comment:

I have this problem where my system randomly locks up. No particular program seems to cause it and i have to manually shutdown and reboot. I installed win 2000 pro 3 months ago and the lockups started about 2 weeks later and did it about every 2 weeks, then this month it started to happen once a week and now its at least once a day. i have reinstalled os, IE and upgraded everything. If anyone has any ideas what the problem might be I'd appreciate it.

Read the following on Process LexBceS.exe.

Lexbces Lexbces.exe

(Lexmark) This program is a component of the Lexmark MarkVision software. If your Lexmark printer comes with an internal network card, you will need to install MarkVision to configure that network card. This results in LEXBCES running as a background process on Windows 9x and as a service in Windows NT4.

Recommendation :
If you are not experiencing any problems, leave alone. In our case, however, we have found the MarkVision software extremely buggy, to cause Windows startup problems, to cause serious performance hogs, and a number of other problems. As a result, while we often recommend Lexmark printers, particularly for the high end lasers, we now never ever buy Lexmark printers with in-built network cards – we use external Intel Netport Express print servers instead (HP JetDirect 300x now that Intel no longer make print servers).

Hi

If you've reinstalled all software and are still getting the problem it could be a faulty DIMM.

When you reinstalled the os did you run the system "bare" for a time before installing apps?

regards.

I would get uninstall the LexMark Printer that you have. They have a built NIC in them. Uninstall that and see if your computer without the printer installed gives you problems. Restart your computer and go into Safe Mode. Then do the uninstall of LexMark printer.

I updated the printer driver so that it is compatible with win2000. The printer is a compaq ij600, it uses lexmark cartridges. The printer was working fine, but i did this anyways.
I also did a complete reinstall of the os, but it locked up the next morning. My next step is to remove the newer memory card and see if this is the problem.

Errors i am currently receiving:

Service control manager Event ID 7026, the following boot driver or system start drivers failed to load: EAWDMFD

Browser event ID 8032,the browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport\device\NetBt_Tcpip_{2314A7D6-5837-4EE8-BB47-9E83FDA5F805}the backup browser is stopping.

Browser event ID 8021, The browser was unable to retrieve a list of browsers from the browser master\\JIM on the network device\NetBt_Tcpip_{2314A7D6-5837-4EE8-BB47-9E83FDA5F805}the data is in the error code

Net Bt event ID 4319, a duplicate name has been detected on the TCP network. The IP address of the machine that sent the message is in the data. Use nbtstan in a command window to see which name is in the conflict state.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Sherry
