OS: Windows 2k
CPU/Ram: AMD XP 1800+ DDR400 256MB
Comment:

I have a A7v8X-X with a AMD XP 1800+ palomino and A DDR400 256 ram stick

I orderd my board and Ram at the same time from 2 different places not knowing that there was an officaly tested list of ddr400 manufacturers

I had a few problems

1/I cant seem to get a stable windows 98 running on my pc, programs including games, windows and opera seem to crash alot forcing me to restart

2/programs in windows 2000 just sometimes crash for no reason and leave a error log somewhere ? this seems to happen alot and with opera but also with others but the OS itsself rarely crashes

(anyone know where the log is saved ?)

3/sometimes my system stops responding for a few seconds and then continues without any error reports ?

Could using ram not on the offical tested list cause any of this ??

Sorry for going on but If anyone has had any experiances with anything like this please let me know because im just not sure and its driving me insane ;-)

Thanks

Yes RAM could cause that. If sounds like to me that your RAM isn't compatible with your system. Go to www.crucial.com
For 2000 right click on My Computer and click on Manage.

Go to Event Viewer for the logs.

Thanks

Im not sure yet if it would be best to use oficaly branded DDR400 or go for some DDR333 as the board dosnt say there are any compatability problems with 333
