I have tried changing the registry keys for the num lock and it constantly reverts back. Is this a problem with regedit, or just me? Should I use a different program to edit the registry?

Try changing the options in the BIOS which loads before the Registry.

This PC does not have the option to set it in the bios. The num lock key comes in after the logon screen has been completed. I have changed them in the default user and the current user fields. After restarting the PC the registry values have reset back to their original values.

Edit the file CONFIG.SYS in the root of your C: drive and insert the line "NUMLOCK=ON". That will do it :)
