Comment: I work in an office with about 12 computers and we have a filing cabinet which i keep all the software for all the machines. There are Windows cds and Office cds, I wish to make a storage system in which a particular computers cds are stored together, however I cannot tell which office cd has been used to install on which machine and which windows cd has been installed on which machine! The only way I can distinguish them is by the unique product keys on the disk. Is there any way or any program I can use to find out off a certain machine what software product key has been used on it? A Hope I have made myself clear enough, any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated! Aaron

Reply: (edit)You can go into the registry of each machine and search for ProductID or ProductKey - can't remember which one it is - and it will give the serial number but in some cases the CD key is not the same as the Product ID.

Reply: (edit)The other way is to enter into Control Panel --> System (for Windows product keys) and into Help --> About (for Office programs). Hope this helps! Andrés

Reply: (edit)I install all software from one set of discs, that way all can be modified without trying to find the same disc that was used org. As long as you have a legit copy/lic for each pc there's no legal problem. I leave the rest of the CD's in the shrink wrap in a lock box.

Reply: (edit)Go to www.download.com and download freeware that is entitled Belarc. It will give you a print out of the hardware and/or software and the keys on your p.c. Good luck!
