Does somebody have experience in the installation of Scanjet 5100C in w2k? I tried once with HP Precision Scan for Windows 95 and it caused me lots of problems. Now i downloaded HP Precision Scan for Windows 98. Should i install it without problems? If somebody did it please e-mail me the steps i should perform.

I am not sure about the 5100c. However, I have a 5200c and found a patch on the HP website that worked.

Use the software that came with the HP ScanJet 5100C to start with. Make sure it is loaded, but also know that it will not work with W2k. Download updated drivers for the scanner from the HP Web site and install them. That is what I did and it works OK.

Same here. HP doesn't seem to give a crap about it. 95 is the only OS I have had it working on. The 98 and W2K was a nightmare and caused me to go back an OS just so I could use their s---ty scanner

I had the same problem as well. I downloaded the HP Precision scan from the hp website, and I can't get mine working either. Even with the new download. Is it really worth all this trouble? I think I'll go with a visioneer. My boyfriend has one and never had a single problem with that one.
