Hello, I'm trying to setup internet connection sharing, but I'm experiencing problems.

situation:
computer1: linux router connected to the internet, using NAT to share internet for a local network. external IP is static, internal IP is 192.168.0.100

computer2 runs windows 2000 and is directly connected to the internal ip using a cross-over utp-cable. IP of this computer is 192.168.0.2
this computer has a second networkcard. this card has IP 192.168.0.3.
on this computer I want to configure ICS.

computer3: running windows ME. IP: 192.168.0.11. directly connected using cross-over utp-cable, connected to 192.168.0.3-card on comuter2
this computer can ping 192.168.0.3, but can't see 192.168.0.2 or 192.168.0.100.

I enabled ICS on the card in computer2 that is connected with computer1.
Internet works fine on computer1 and computer2, but doesn't work on computer3.

if I try to ping computer3 from computer2, I get 'request timeout'. if I ping computer2 from computer3, it sees computer2.

I think there's something wrong with the configuration of te second networkcard in computer2 (connected with computer3)
Should I enter a gateway for it? if yes, which ip? the ip of computer1 or the ip of the first networkcard?

is there anything els I did wrong?

Johan

your set up is too complex, spend the 39 bucks for a cheap switch and throw out all the cross over cables, etc. let the linux firewall/nat do it's job.

or just buy a router (hardware firewall and DHCP server).

ICS is designed to worked with a single network (you've got several 2 machine networks) where ICS machine is DHCP server. As rick says - way too complicated.

I'm a student, I don't have the money to 'just by a 39 bucks cheap switch'.
I'm trying to do as much as possible with what I have.

I think I found the problem though. 1 of the NIC's is behaving strange, so I think it's broken :(
