My computer is a pentum 3 850mhz
Gigabyte GA-6BX7 motherboard
256mb 133mhz Ram

my computer has constantly crashed since using the 133mhz FSB setup.
It always gave a message of : Starting Memory Dump' in blue screen then just froze. This would happen whatever I seemed to be doing, and sometimes would not happen for days.

After switching of the power it would always boot up ok but go through scandisk 1st. The other day however it would not and i have had various messages. It will go half way throughtbooting up then a blue screen with something like : Bios may not be ACPI compatible, update. Or i have had 'remove recently installed hardware [even though i have not installed any].

Messing around yesterday I discovered that it all works absolutely fine by setting the jumpers to 100mhz FSB although the processor shows as a 650mhz. It seem ok tho I must say!

I tried udating the bios , following exactly the instructions off the Gigabyte web site, but after several attempts it will just not do it. The flash programme starts ok but i always get the message ' cannot find source file' I have definitely downloaded the correct Flash bios updates.

Any help please?

Tell me what bios you have running and what Bios you downloaded. You should be able to find the Bios version on the first DOS screen during bootup.

If the 6BXD7_14f5a.zip didn't work, then I'll see what I can find out.
If possible look at your motherboard for the ID number. GA-6BXD7 or GA-6BXD7+ (DO NOT ASSUME - LOOK)

is your processor a real 850 mhz P3 or have you overclock it ? If yes , normally if your FSB is at 133 , all your system is overclocked , memory , video , sound card etc.... that's why you've got a probleme of stability i think....Normally it should be between 100 and 114 , after 114 qll the system is unstable ...
