I've tried several time to install my photo-editing software, Ulead PhotoImpact 3.0 SE...it's old, but I loved it on win 98. Anway, when I install it, I get this message at the start saying it can't write to c:\WINNT. So when I looked it up on the manual, Ulead said to delete the files in the Temp folder, which I did but it didn't work. So I installed anyway and at first the program ran fine. It was when I went to save an image that all of a sudden the program would crash. It this when I tried opening a file too. Also, when I play Roller Coaster Tycoon, I can play new games fine, but I can't load saved games or it crashes. Can anyone help?

i'm making a guess, but no arm checking:

right-click on C: or C:/winnt click properties and see whether Read-Only is ticked. if it is disable it and try ur roller tycoon game again.

No, it's not set to read only...but there are a bunch of access control settings in place for different users that I didn't do myself- must have been that way when I bought it. Maybe it's like that because of te networking feature. Gosh I wish they hadn't have given me win 2k Pro...the regular one would've beend fine.

There was only one version of W2K for users (Pro) and a version for servers. For personal use Pro is the only choice. At that time the alternative was WinME which was not very good when compared to W98.

As far as the software for Ulead I suspect that it came with a scanner you have? Did you check the website to see if they have a version available that is W2K compatible? Most of this software and the older flatbed scanners will not work with W2K or newer. Look for a replacement that will do what you want. If the company does not have a download for a newer version then you are most likely out of luck. Third-party software that is provided with printers and scanners is usually not available for download.

The same question would come in for the game, is it an older copy designed only for W98 and older, or did it say W2K compatible? Did you go to their site and look for patches to make it work? Check their site support for possible information about your problem.
Good luck

Richard
