Comment:

I am trying to install a 3Com 801.11g OfficeConnect Wireless USB Adapter (model # 3crwe254g72) and I seem to install the driver but i can't install the actual Adpater software i.e Setup.exe doesn't run.

I keep getting:
1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance, Return code: -2147024894

I checked the Evnt Log and I see this error:
Unable to start a DCOM Server: {8B1670C8-DC4A-4ED4-974B-81737A23826B} as /. The error:
"c:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\8\Intel 32\IDriver.exe -Embedding is not a valid Win32 application. "
Happened while starting this command:
c:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\8\Intel 32\IDriver.exe -Embedding

I have tried fixing it using this http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=q108440 but no joy. I have also tried to install in Windows Safe Mode as well as rebootign and tryign to install again.

I have also checked the task Manager to make sure another instance fo Setup.exe is not running.

This is so frustrating but I see no way fo fixing this.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Found a fix for this.

Go to a command prompt (CMD) and type c:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\8\Intel 32\IDriver.exe -Embedding

Then run your setup.exe or install.exe of the prog you are trying to install.
