Problems running programs as non-root

I am running Win2000 Pro on a dual pII system (multiprocessor kernel). My problem is that when I install programs as administrator, standard users cannot run them properly (or at all). This seems to mostly be a problem with games (Tiberian sun and Q3A are the most serious offenders), but I have had problems with Winamp and others too. I have execution permissions on all the programs, but the all give funny errors on startup. For example, Tiberian Sun can't find the CD, and Q3 can't find the default.cfg file. Does anybody have any ideas?

Probably because when you install as root, those games put registry settings in the HKEY_current_user key, most likely ones that point to the cd drive. So log in as administrator, look under hkey_current_user\software and find any appropriate keys. Export them to a file, login as your user, and import that file.
