Dear fellow tech-heads - I'm trying to network my Windows 2000 Pro computer with my Windows 2000 ME computer. I'm using a Netgear hub to make the connection. I can the Windows Me computer on the My Network Places screen but I get a Network Path Not Found Message. On the Windows ME computer I don't even see the Windows 2000 computer. I've followed everything I could think of and was able to read in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, but to no avail. Also, the Windows ME computer has AOL 5.0 which I think there may be something to it.

Has anybody had this problem?

you don't mention what you have loaded for protocols; for small networks netbui works well and has the minimum configuration requirements; if you intend to share an internet connnection then you should choose tcp/ip which needs a little more finesse to configure

sometimes the aol protocol will interfere with your lan settings; if you don't use it, remove it

I remember reading in the Langlist newsletter that installing AOL 5.0, over wrote files in Windows, rendering the network/TCP/IP useless even after uninstalling AOL 5.0. There was a big stink about this at the time, because users of 5.0 were unable to use their dialup in Windows.
