Problems Fixing NTLDR during 2000 upgrade

copied NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM, and created BOOT.INI,,,,,,during re-boot system won't take my boot.ini file.....What am I doing wrong...

The boot.ini file is a read only - hidden - system file in W2K.
You have to go into DOS and run - attrib -r -h -s boot.ini before the system will allow you to make any changes to it.

Joel is correct. If you can boot the machine up, copy the original boot.ini file off. I did that, and now keep the three files on a floppy disk, just in case. put in the root directory of the hard disk that you boot from. However, it is a hidden file, as he suggested. make sure you change the attribute..
If your upgrading into windows 2000, i wouldn't recommend that. copy your data off, and do a clean install of windows 2000. Much more reliable.

thanks, finally got the 2000 cd to reload. the only problem is during startup, I get an error titled (suspend-to-disk file is absent)
The computer works fine unless it goes into suspend mode,,,then I can't get it back up. I have to shutdown and re-start.
