Problem with WIN 2K Pro

CPU/Ram: Pent 3 / 512MB

I keep getting a message that says "Preparing to install..." it pops up every few minutes then goes away. Has anyone experienced this problem...it very annoying. Someone HELP PLEASE!!! Thanks

It sounds like you got some sort of virus, worm or spyware thing going on. I suggest you update your viruscanner to the latest virus signatures and run a scan across your entire hard drive. Then I would download, install and run spybot to get rid of adaware programs. You can also copy msconfig from a Windows XP system then go to the startup tabbed page and limit the programs starting up automatically as your system boots. I suspect doing these things will get rid of the program trying to install.
