Make sure you formating in Fat 32...

Some drives with a certain number of cylinders can have problems under Windows 2000. The sp1 service pack has apparently fixed that limitation.

undo is right. If your system is formated with FAT16, your maximum partition size will be 2 GB.

Right click in my computer, and choose "manage". Go to disk manager and create a new partition. As file system format, choose NTFS (FAT32 is also good, but it it slower).

after instalation is done there is no unpartioned space under disk management.

i had the same problem
i had a 17 g that would only format as 2
i had to make an IBM boot disk and reformat from that "operating system, then i reinstalled windows and it was 16.8...
if you happen to have an ibm look for "disk GO!" on their website

had simalar prb solved it by partitioning(fdisk)and formatting with a 98 boot disk first, reboot, change boot sequence in bios to CDRM,C..and boot 2k from the cd.(all nts will do this). As set up runs choose the partition(you should see your full disk now) and choose "leave current format". After set up has loaded the first set of files and enters the 15 second reboot(red bar)stop the set up and change the boot sequence back to A,C,Scs in bios. Continue set as normal. Neat stuff.
