okay, i just purchased a presario 5000 series computer which includes this scanner. also i am using windows 2000. the software is working fine (adobe photodeluxe home edition, it is showing up correctly in the device manager as well. the usb cable seems to be good to.
when i am in photodeluxe, i choose the scanner input source as epson twain 4 (per the manual instructions) then hit mode (which is the next step) and it tells me "there is a problem with the scanner".
i did notice in the manual it says that if the green operating light slowly flashes, that there could be a problem with the usb cable and to make sure the power outlet is securely plugged in. the reason i say the cable is fine is that i tried the one from my printer (which does work) and got the same negative response with the scanner. and the plug is securely plugged into a surge protector which some of my other equipment is also plugged into.
should i assume that i have a faulty scanner?
