in every application in win 2000 where i try to type ë I get ¨¨ instead. I have the same problem with ~. I already tried to resolve this problem by changing the input locales but in vain. Is there anyone who can help me?

i would try and update your bios first, and maybe try another keyboard.

other keyboard doesn't do the trick, updating the bios seems rather radical because this problem appeared all of a sudden so i expect it's a matter of settings but which exactly???
