I bought another ebook from fictionwise. After it is downloaded I get an error "A file may be missing or damaged" Fictionwise says they have no trouble downloading the book. I have dowloaded over 50 ebooks and this is the only ebook I have ever had any trouble with in this way. I have folloowed Fictionwises's suggestions and disabled and minimized everything I can think of but the problem persists.
Could the problem be with my computer. Perhaps some setting I have not thought of.
Any suggestions? The book is 8mb long.

It's entirely possible some of the data got corrupted during the download and that's why it's not working right now. If it were me, I'd redownload the ebook and see if the new download doesn't run right. If it does, the problem was likely a bit of corrupt data. If it doesn't well, then it could be either your PC or their ebook.

Firstly I agree, more than likely the book download is corrupt. Re-download... are u are downloading a zipped file, have had similar probs downloading zipped files, same with pdf's. As for the size of the file, are u using downloading software, try free download manager or download accelorator to speed things up.

The ebook actually does download to my desktop, but when I open it it says there is a missing or damaged file, and will not open. Fictionwise, the company I bought the ebook from, says this ebook downloads for them without problem. I have disabled everything I can think of to correct this problem, but nothing works. This is the only ebook, out of over 40, that I have had this download problem with. Fictionwise implies the ebook is not damaged, so I am stuck.

Have they said you can re-download? If fictionwise can download it, that means absolutely nothing. Of course they can donload it, it's on their server... If Fictionwise will allow you to re-download, then redownload the file and see. Like I said, I have downloaded many a file that has been corrupted during the download process. Is there any chance they can send you a copy on cd? I know this might be a bit of a pain in the... but the only other thing I can think you can do is burn a copy of the corrupt file to cd and send it to them.
