Comment:

i have installed a HP PSC 2210 all-in-one on a laptop. I had to rename an executable to get it to print at all (hpobnz08.exe) and now I can print from any application except word. I have installed 2k sp4 and office 2000 sp3, via 4 in 1, via usb filter, updated drivers, patches and firmware upgrades for the printer, edited registry entries and still getting no where.
The error message is as follows:

************************************

there was an error found when printing "document name" to USB001.

do you want to retry or cancel this job?

*********************************************

any ideas?

thanks in advance for any help

Are you sure you have the right driver? The one here http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/softwareDownloadIndex.jhtml?reg=&cc=us&softitem=oj-6817-3&prodId=hppsc2210a79499&lc=en&sw_lang=en&pagetype=software is large but its for Win2K

Why did you need to change the name of the executable and fiddle with the registry - this really should not be necessary -

Try Goon's drivers and see if this does the trick.

Good Luck

I renamed the executable to stop it running. I have come across HP PSC all-in-ones printing problems with W2K before and worked around the problem by stopping certain executables running. I don't like deleting files until I'm happy they're not neccessary so renaming suits my purpose.
The drivers being used are the correct ones. The screwy part is that this printer prints in every application except Word. It's not an office thing because I can print from excel.
It's driving me nuts a HP support is laughable. They obviously go by a script because they have suggested remedies that I have already tried and have relayed that info to them. :(
