Printing Job

Comment:
My department shares a network printer that automatically prints out a banner page along with a print job to indicate who the document belongs to and the job number. This cover page wastes a lot of paper since most jobs are only about 2-4 pages in length. We could disable this banner page, but this is not an option since no one will know where their document went, or who a document belongs to. Is there another option or third-party software that still indicates whose job a document belongs to without printing this extra sheet? For example, rather than using a whole page, all vital info is placed as a header at the top of the first page of the document? Thks

Hello Ellen,
As far as i understand this problem ok it is a question of the software maker of your network-software : if you like to change more than default is possible you will have to contact them (through your system administrator ?) will probably will to costly ?

The banner page is really part of the printer's software, not really an OS problem.
Headers for Word and Excel would work for those doc's.
You could get the users to get up and go get their doc's as soon as there printed. Tell them that any unclaimed print outs will be trashed.
