Printer networking problem

Printer networking problem, I installed the Widows 2000 print drivers for my Xerox Work Center printer, and I also installed the windows 98 print drivers, as a secondary print driver in Windows 2000. I have the current drivers in my system for the printer. When I go to add a new printer to the Windows 98 computer, the Win98 computer accepts it. After I restart the computer, I try to do a test print. The results of the test print come up as printer error. Please give me a clue. My other Windows 2000 machine prints out fine through the network. It is just Win98 that I have a problem. Thanks.

Try manually installing the Win98 printer drivers on your Win98 computer (not through the network, but from a CD or a downloaded install file) and then configure the port so that it prints on \\Win2KComputer\PrinterShare instead of LPT1(replace the string by the correct names according to your configuration).
I have tried that, had no success. I've tried to install the printer on a few computers, different ways, and had the same problem. Thanks.

Ok, I added NetBui, still have the same problem with getting an error writing to printer. I'm wondering if it could be a driver problem, or not. Not sure. Please let me know, thanks.

The error that I get is a dialog box on the client, that says, "There was a error writing to \Mainserv\Xerox, a device attached to the system is not functioning"

The printer works when I print out from the server, but doesn't work on the client.

I know this may be dumb but I have to be sure: you typed "\Mainserv\Xerox"... was it a misspelling here?. Because the right syntax is "\\Mainserv\Xerox".
Sorry if I respond late, but don´t worry, I´ve added this thread to my Favorites list to follow it when I don´t have to work :).
