I need help? Im a network techncan at a school district. I would like to know if there is a way to block students from installing active x programs from the internet. The students logon script denies them installing software. Some how they can still install these games which come with spyware and trojans and web enhancers which do not enhance browsing. Many thanks to any help.
Im looking more for a script or reg setting. something that could be deployed. We run over 700 computers and buying software is not in our best intrest at this time. I know there is a free version of adaware but does it have all the fetures?

You can put your Internet security settings on High, which will prevent Active X controls from running.
or you could go to "Tools/Internet Options...", "Security" tab, "Custom Level" (for Internet), and set "Download signed ActiveX controls" to Disable.
I'm still looking for a script/reg/gpo solution. I'll post if I find something.
