i Have a compaq armada e500 and somehow
it says power-on password upon boot up i cant even get into win 2000 any ideas?

If you can get into the BIOS then disable the Power on Password

looks like some doufus set a password! you need to reset the motherboard and put all the settings back in it.

Look up the laptop specs on the manufacturers website to find out how to open the laptop "shell". Once it's open, you may actually have a BIOS settings jumper or dipswitch that you can flip. If not, remove the C-MOS battery and leave it out for at least 10 minutes to clear the settings. You will have to reset the time once you get back into Windows and may have to reset some of the BIOS options as well
