Hi,
Does IE v5.0, v5.5 or v6.02 have pop-up blocking features included that I've overlooked? Netscape 7.1 has it as a setting under Preferences but I'm not sure about IE. I can download pop up blocker from Yahoo but am not sure if that will be endorsed by senior management at work. IE is the only browser sanctioned by our IT dept. so a solution for IE is required.
Thanks

no version of ie has any built in pop up blocking.
pop up stopper from panicware is the best there is for win ie browsers.

IE 7 is supposed to have it.
IE is a piece of crap.
Opera is the absolute best browser, integrated popup stopper (unlike NyetScape, who lets popups from AOL, WalMart, etc. get by cause they slipped some money) and stuff.
IE is absolutely horrible. I don't know how people use it and DON'T go hanging themselves.

I use Mozilla Firebird on all my Windows boxes including my 2000 one. No popups getting past that one unless I let it (alerts you when a site tries to open one); and no dropping spyware (like Alexa) and tracking cookies w/o my knowledge through my security, either.

I'm not sure why but IT Management in each of several companies I've worked for insists on supporting only one browser-IE. On my workstation I have IE 6.02 (it's the only browser that works with web based apps on my intranet), Netscape 7.1 and Opera. This way I can test internet connections with different browsers since they are not all equal.
I agree that for the most part IE sucks although 6.02 is finally proving to be somewhat useful.
I do not mind the advertising section in the "trial" version of Opera but wouldn't want to subject my users to it. Since when do we need to purchase a browser-what's up with that???????
Netscape is an excellent choice with each new release. I always make it a point to download it or keep it up-to-date.
I suspected that IE doesn't have aany native pop-up blocking functionality but felt compelled to ask. I'm going to try the Yahoo blocker on my PC for a while and see how it goes. Since our network also has issues with spyware I will seriously consider visiting the panicware site and consider recommending it for general use. I spent over an hour at a single PC in the production area cleaning up all sorts of spyware and related JUNK. Who knows, maybe I'll earn a few stripes.
Thanks for the feedback.....it was well worth the time taken to post.

Well, I think IE is the best browser. Certainly heads above Netscape. And for my money, PopUp Cop works the best. Popup Stopper hosed my system.
But, to each his own.
