Comment: Hi guys...I run W2K, cable access to inet, Outlook 2000, and use yahoo.com for pop3 email...everything has been working great for close to a year...about 3 days ago I started getting error messages from yahoo when I sent email and so far can't figgure out whats going on... I have no problem getting on the inet... I can ping yahoo.com no problem, and trace route to yahoo also... I have rebooted computer several times, removed and re-set up the accout in outlook 2-3 times and still get the same error message... Now...I CAN RECIEVE MY POP3 EMAIL MESSAGES...I JUST CANNOT SEND SMTP EMAIL FROM MY OUTLOOK TO YAHOO... Any ideas??? Thanx STeve

Reply: (edit)I understand thatt most ISP do not allow mail to be sent through there mail servers if are not actually connected to them. Maybe Yahoo has only just started to do this. Have you spoken to Yahoo? Have you tried it when connected to Yahoo?

Reply: (edit)Jason...I figgured it out... When Outlook cannot SMTP to a pop3 server, eg I cannot "send" email, but I can "recieve" email from the pop3 server... Go to Outlook and clean out the "outbox"...go thru the process of "sending" email, even though there is no email to send... And everything just magically starts to work again...at least in this case it did... Steve
