Everytime I turn on my computer or just at various times I get an error message saying something about "unrecongnized files found please insert disk labeled windows 2000" and i get options of more info, retry, and ignore...more info gives me no info at all so i have to put in the disk and click retry...this happens ALOT please help me...

also whenever i run programs i get errors that say (Program Name Here) has generated errors and will be closed by windows, and it closes it...usually happens in IE...please help...

also sometimes my comp boots up and i am left with the wall paper and nothing else...no taskbar or icons or anything....

I know thast alot of errors...I downgraded from XP to 2000 Pro because it was supposed to be good...if anyone can just help me fix any of those it would be so greatly appriciated...thanks...

Did you reformat and clean install win2000?
If you do it that way, you should have no problems. If you inserted the win2000 cd in to XP and clicked install-- you're gonna have big problems. maybe. probably.

Backup all critical data-- to cdr (or to a friends pc -or just a borrowed hard drive- for a couple of hours), reformat the drive, and clean install win2000.

If this is impossible, you could TRY and put the XP cd into win2000 and see if upgrading repairs any of the damege. kind of a half-arsed solution though. maybe. probably.

Let us know.
