hi, my name is tom... and i think i've just lost over 4 years worth of data due to a virus i got from a macintosh.... I was running win2k.. i got the error message NTLDR missing... i tried repairing.. i didn't have a rescue disk. it didnt work. i went to console and repaired manually. i repaired the boot sector. i put the harddrive in my other computer which is running win98, i see there is 10MB capacity on my supposed 20GB harddrive.. there was a bunch of randomly named files... |{| as an example.. or |r| or something weird like that. I ran scandisk, it converted all those to .chk files. I dont know what to do and i have very important data on the disk.. If anyone can help please email me, thanks.

Try hooking up the demented drive as a slave drive to another Windows 2000 machine. Windows 98 cannot see NTFS, you need Windows 2000 to see what's on your old drive. Oh, and if you ran scandisk from Windows 98 on the Windows 2000 drive and converted files, you may just screwed yourself....
