When you Ping...what response do you receive?
What IP range can you ping and what IP range can't you ping?

Have you verified it is not a wiring problem or HUB, Switch, etc.?

Others may know, but I'm not sure what you mean by "getting offlines"?

Please provide more info.

Thanks for posting a reply..

the problem is that i am on my intranet, and when i ping any computer in the same ip network id range, it says that request time out. all the wires and all are in place and still this happens.

I have changed the patch panel/jack panel, the switch and even the cards, btu still the problem persists.

Did you try pinging the loopback first to make sure all NIC cards are working? Then test the wire with a cable tester to make sure there is connectivity. Are you running a server is the DHCP working properly maybe re-install the DHCP service. I guess you can't browse to that computer through network neiborhood because you can't ping. Are they on different subnets? Are you using a crossover cable instead of a straight through cable? I'm just throwing some idea's out

Thanks

Carlo

if you want to know if you have a wiring problem or nic card problem just install netbeui on both machines and see if network places not showes other computers if it does then it's your ip configuration on that machine. also can the remote machines ping you. some solutions ,make sure those specific ip's on your intranet are not running programs like zone alarm which will keep them invisible to you. make sure you do no have network redirect viruses like "network.vbs". this will cause you a big headache.
