Subject: ping problem
OS: win2k
CPU/Ram: duron/384mb
Model/Manufacturer: none
Comment:
Hi, i have two computers, computer A is a dual boot (win2k-linux), computer B is also a dual boot (win2k-freebsd), they are connected with a crossover cable and share the internet connection, with computer A acting as gateway (ICS for win2k and Nat-Squid for linux). The following configurations are successful to ping:
A:linux B:win2k (A to B, B to A)
A:linux B:freebsd (A to B, B to A)
But:
A:win2k B:win2k (only ping B to A works)
A:win2k B:freebsd (only ping B to A works)
It seems that the problem is the A computer running win2k. I will thank any suggestion to solve this problem.

Check the built in firewall on windows. You may have it set to not return pings.

Windows 2000 has no 'built in' firewall - that arrived with WinXP
