"Unable to open the Server service. Server performance data will not be returned. Error code returned is in data DWORD 0. "

The above is the description found for Perfnet errors in the event viewers of several Windows 2000 machines where I work. I have not been able to find concrete online clues about how to combat this error. The errors seem to get logged when pc's lockup or lose their network connections to network drives. And often times the errors get logged without causing any noticable problems that affect the users of the machine.

If anyone has any comments or feedback on this please post! List websites or state if you have ran into this before, even if you haven't found a solution.

CHEERS!

MATT

I've never run into this problem myself, but a quick Google search turned up several hits. One of the more interesting things I saw was: http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=2004&eventno=646

Yeah, I found that eventid.net link also, but none of that applied to my situation nor helped me out. Thanks though.
