Comment:

There is a computer in our home office running Windows 2000 Pro and PC Anywhere 11.0. This is the host. We would like to connect to the host from a remote location through a cable internet connection. The remote is running Windows ME and the same version of PC Anywhere. The host computer is behind a router. We made shure that the Data and Status ports matched on both systems but have not been able to make the connection. From the remote computer, we typed the ip address and username of the computer, but still nothing. Example, 123.45.67.890/name

I have never done this before but now have a need to do so. Can someone please help with very detailed instructions as PC Anywhere's help is truly no help? Thanks in advance.

Dave

have you set up port forwarding on your router?

you'll need to configure the router to forward packets on 5631 (TCP) and 5632 (UDP) to the internal IP address of the PC running the host.

That will be the first thing I do this evening. Thanks for that.

Once I do this, How would I type the address for the host? Is my example above correct?

Thanks again for your help as I am just learning how to do this.

as long as port forwarding is set up to point to the internal IP of the host PC, all you should need to enter to connect is the external IP of your router :)
