Should I set a fixed paging file size to get better performance if I have 256MB memory installed?

One day, I had a lot of open applications, and Win2k stopped and resized on it's own and on the fly the paging file size.
I would advise to leave it as it is, and if win2k needs more, it will reset itself automatically.
I was impressed!!!
