overriding windows 2000 password

resently was given a IBM notebook laptop, which use to belong to a company. unfortunetly the login name and password could not be found, so I basically can't use the computer. Now, is there a way that I can override the username and password???

I do not like to promote those types of programs that are needed to do what you are asking, however a net search will find them.
What you need is a password reset utility.

Please do keep 1 thing in mind......
The software is still licensed to the "company". Your best bet is to reinstall the OS of your choice with your own license.

which password?

if the windows log on password, boot to your own copy of win2k and format the hard drive by doing a clean install.

if the bios password you will have to call ibm and prove to them that you own the laptop legit to get them to tell you have to re-set the bios password.
