Comment: Dear sir, Please see if any one who could help to solve the problem on my computer, which have been said by my friends that they have never met or seen before. Problems: Except the below icons on desktop for - My computer, My documents, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, Recycle bin, Neighboring network. All other icons as shortcut for programs, like Photoshop7.0, Power DVD, winzip, Nero burning Rom, Acrobat Reader, all having their respective original shape of icons overlapped with the same "RealOne player shape" icons. However, they all function properly when click on without misleading. Even though they do not function wrong and all have their respective correct description down beneath each icon, but it does creat a mess for me, as they all look the same shape to me. Can anyone help me to sove this problem??? Best regards, Clarence Lo

Reply: (edit)Try refreshing the desktop with F5. If that doesn't work, your ShellIconCache file is corrupt. Delete it - it's in WINNT, and is hidden, so enable hidden files to see it. A new one will be rebuilt on reboot.

Reply: (edit)Dear Rambler, Thanks for your kindest help. When press F5, it did make the lift up the RealOne icon, however, once the F5 button is released, the RealOne icon overlap on the current icon again. It means two icons are staying at one place. Besides, I have tried to uninstall the RealOne player, it did help to make normal for a day, then, currently, the Winzip icon is grapped to cover the current icons, just substituting the place of RealOne. If so, I could not keep on uninstall all my programs! As for your instruction, to delete the shell Icon file, to speak out frankly, I am not very good at computer, please indicate in more details, like the directory path of the said Shell Icon file, so that I can find it. Finally, thank you very much. Best regards, Clarence

Reply: (edit)Dear Rambler, Thanks for your kindest help again. However, I have met a guy in a local computer shop, telling him about the problem on my computer. He told me to try on the following way. It does help! 1. Right click on the desktop. 2. Left click "properties" 3. Left click "effects" on the menu bar 4. Then uncheck all the rows with "checks" 5. Then left click "apply" 6. Then left click "OK" 7. Then check again the original rows unchecked before. 8. Then left click "apply". 9. Then left click "OK". Finally, everything is back to normal. Thanks you very much!!! Clarence
