I noticed recently on a user's PC that Outlook drags when trying to use a pull-down menu.

The user is running a Compaq EVO D500, P4-1.5GHz, 256MB RAM, 18GB HDD with Windows 2000 SP2SRP1. Outlook 2000 is from Office 2000 Premium SP2.

At first I tried running Outlook/Office Detect & Repair utility but didn't solve anything. Tried resetting the pull-down menu properties in the Display>Effects menu, no good.

On a whim, I opened Task Manager, and ran the Processes tab. Kept using pulldowns in Outlook, sometimes the CPU would clock in at 25+%! On Performance tab, it was noticable that the CPU usage history (that EEG lookin' thing) had been pinned at numerous places.

Any ideas as to cause?
