Comment:

I've just changed IP and now OE will not get the email messages. I get the following message:-

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.teegee.com.au', Server: 'mail.teegee.com.au', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR authorization failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

I have looked up the the MS Knowledge base

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/236032/

and found the resolution but unfortunately cannot make head or tail of it. Here is the solution:-

When you use the default Exchange Server POP3 or IMAP4 authentication setting (Clear Text Authentication), set your POP3 or IMAP4 account name to include the following information:
NTDomain\NTDomainID\ExchangeMailAlias
For example, if your domain is "Name_of_domain," your account name is "Myaccount," and your Exchange Server alias is "Serveralias," your account name is:
name_of_domain\myaccount\serveralias

I am unfamiliar with the terminology being used. Would someone be able to explain it to me in simpler terms?

Thanks in advance

Usually indicates an incorrect userid and/or password. Since you're using an ISP and not a company-based Exchange server on a LAN, the MS article doesn't apply. If the user details seem to be OK, check that your ISP has activated your mail account.

Why did you change your IP Address? Do you have other internet capability on that machine?

Delete the account in OE and rebuild it.

Happens all the time with OE. Changing the settings doesn't always work.

Oh, and you have to close OE and reopen it for the settings to take affect.

seawatch, I followed all your instructions and for a moment I thought that I had it licked, but, unfortunately, it's not working.

It is definitely the password that is causing the problem because I can send messages but cannot receive them. I have tried all different permutations of the password but no luck.

I'm waiting for a reply from the ISP regarding this problem. If it's resolved I'll provide feedback.

My ISP pointed me in the right direction.

The problem was at the screen "Internet mail logon". OE gives a default user eg. adam. It was OK with my previous ISP but for TeeGee I needed to add @teegee.com.au
