This may seem retarded but many times when I hover my mouse over the print icon in outlook (ONLY IN OUTLOOK AND ONLY IN OUTLOOK), it locks up the whole outlook program.
Default printer is network printer but everything prints fine. Any suggestions?

Try re-installing Outlook or Office for that matter.
I've never seen this problem. Usually a software problem and not a setting when something like this happens...reinstall.

I have seen this, I experience it everyday. I also have other W2K PCs with the same problem. I have noticed this happens if you try to complete a task like printing when Outlook is checking the Mail Server at the same time.
When someone finds a solution, it would be a good thing to know.

I am actively running Win2k Pro and have no problems. I'm always doing more than on thing at once. Just to try what you said, while I was printing a 40 email attachment, I checked my mail (all in outlook 2000) numerous times and I didn't have a problem.
Another thing to check is the spooler settings. Do you have enough system memory or hard drive space to do the tasks that you are trying to do? If you have 128MB system memory and you are running outlook, excel, explorer (Internet or windows), word, lotus, access,.....etc. And you are low on hdd space, you will not have room to print.
Close everything but outlook and try again, otherwise, I still say re-install it.

Thanks for the replies
My system is:
DELL Pentium 4 1.3 ghz
256mb RAM
Matrox Millenium DualHead 64mb graphics cardI might try to reinstall office outlook module only but I'm skeptical. I might just end up installing XP. Would still be interested in any other suggestions or hear if anybody else has this problem.
I was thinking that maybe when you hover your mouse over that it starts looking for the defualt printer? That sounds dumb, but hey, we're dealing with microsoft here. ;)

I may have the answer to your problems... The same thing was happening to me. I spent three weeks trying to fix it, including several reinstalls, repairs, etc., of office. The solution (in my situation) was to change the default printer. Outlook froze up whenever my mouse even HOVERED (not necessarily clicked) on the printer icon in Outlook XP. My default printer was set as a printer on the network which no longer existed. Switching the default printer to a valid one solved all my problems.
I hope this helps!
