Our computer system makes every day a backup, but when there are corrupted files in outlook, the backup fails. So... We were removing the messages that were corrupted, but 2 messages without a subject were a bit large: 48 MB. SOmebody tried to send the message to another client on the network, but failed, and now we can't remove those 2 message of 48 MB each.
Does somebody know how to remove a message that is to large for the computer to handle? It just freezes, and says "outlook does not respond".
Thanks for help

well, you can delete the entire mail, recreate the mailbox. This is the quickest - but you'd loose All E-mails. Then you could restore from back up, but if you restore the same 48MB e-mails, then your back to square one.
Or you can Exmerge the contents of the Mailbox with Exmerge
XADM: Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Merge Program (Exmerge.exe) Information. Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 174197
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q174197&sd=tech
set the paramaters of the Exmerge to NOT Export anything from a certain date or certain size. It well then drop those items with the restrictions imposed.
Then reimport the messages with the filtered bad messages removed. good Luck

Find a PC with as much RAM as possible, the more the better. Log in as that user and set up an Outlook Profile. Unload as many programs as possible(including anti-virus etc) to maximise the amount of free memory and then try opening Outlook then.

Every now and then we get something similar on our network, a huge file that takes tehPC forever to load up, and it tries to load it up in teh preview pane, freezing outlook. What I do is send that user an empty e-mail (Subject:test, body blank) and have them restart. When they open Outlook, it will load up my empty e-mail in the preview pane. Then I have them hold the Control button, and click on the large e-mail. It will highlite both without tryingto load the large one. Then, with both highlited, I have them hit the delete button, and both e-mails are deleted.
Seems much easier than the above responses...

Well, yeah it seems a lot easier, but that is not my problem, the files are in the trash can, so there is no preview of the file, and when i select it and hit the delete button, it shows up a window with a folder and a trash can, and the folder is sending files to the trash can. And that keeps on going for 30 minutes, at least, that is the time i have been waiting. Then i just ended his task.
So can't i just remove the mail without outlook? just from a folder or from a database?
But thanks for all great responses.
