Comment: Hello, In my W2K computer, when I open a local HTML document (i.e.from hard disk), and then open another HTML document, they open on a separate Internet Explorer windows rather than one window containing 2 HTML pages (i.e. back button is higlighted). But in other computers with W95 and W98, that's not like that: When I open several local HTML files, they all open on the same window and I can move between them by the familiar back and forward buttons of the IE... In my W2K computer I want the same thing to happen but I just can't do it because I couldn't find the setting which controls this. Do you know where it is? (I hope that setting is not accessed from the registry) Regards...

Reply: (edit)The way a new page opens is not dictated by the OS or the browser but by the code on the page ie target="blank" will force a new window to open, target="self" will load the page into the same window. ie a web site will always open the same no matter what browser or OS it is on. Are you sure youve not been looking at sites that do this by design, re-try a site that you definately know should remain in a single window. I suppose it is possible that your browser installation is buggy (when i first upgraded to IE6 any new window that opened would appear blank!, a reinstall of IE sorted it out.
