The big difference is, XP reports back to Gates to activate, so if you ever have to reinstall due to getting a new computer, or having to re-do your system from scratch (what are the chances of those things EVER happening, right?) You need to call Gates and ask, "please sir, may I have some more?"

I agree witht the reply above. Win2K is an operating system with bullet proof architecture and memory resources. Not to say XP is not. Win2K is great and compares very closely to XP. Office2K, works great with Win2K, why change?

Have a look at this:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/evaluation/indepth/compare.htm

In general, many of the new features (XP) are VERY technical to set up and use. The collaboration features are neat, but only if you NEED them. The features that are easy to set up or are pretty much transparent to the end user tend to be incremental improvements over what is available in Office 2000. ("Task Panes," for example.) I personally have no need for any of the improvements, although the speech and handwriting recognition sure sound cool. (If they work, that is.)

Get Office 2000, I say.

Well, the big difference between O2K and OXP is the GUI. There are more candies in OXP. Yes...there is some new features but not worth upgrading. If you are using O2K and happy with it just stick with it, if youu dont have any Office suite or O97 than I suggest you to get OXP.

Thanks!
