Subject: Nvidia geforce 3 problem with directx
Comment:

Hi,

I have a geforce3 and I can't get any games to run direct3d in hardware mode with nvidia 21.xx drivers. (tried
21.81/3/8). The 12.x series works ok however.

Running Dxdiag and testing direct 3d yields:
Direct3D test results: Failure at step 18 (CreateDevice): HRESULT =
0x887602eb (unknown error)

ive tried re-installing directx, reinstalling video drivers, reapplying the
via 4.32 patch none of which work.

Can anyone shed some light on why this happens ...

Thanks for any help you can provide

Daz.

I'm also having the same problems with. DirectX8.1, win2000 and the GeForce2 GTS Pro card. Does installing the 12 drivers fix this problem?

I'm also having the same problem. Direct3D test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code)

and this ^-- Is when testing D3D acceleration.

Error: SetFullscreen - creating the device failed : E_OUTOFMEMORY <-- that is when trying to run a D3D game.

I have a geforce 2 mx 400 pci, and I'm running windows 2k pro. my system is a p3 866 128mb ram. I know I am not out of ram(virtural or physical) because in task manager is clearly says so. If you can help in ANY way please reply to this thread or e-mail me. Thank you

I have the same problem with my Nvidia Geforce 2/MX card(32Mb)..
I've PIII-800,128Mb Ram and DirectX8.1 on win98 second Edition.
Not always, but sometimes it crashes in games using OpenGL giving an error 05 in blue screen.
I've latest driver of geforce from NVidia's site(Detonator 21.83) but still the same error occurs.
Anyone to help please?

Ditto on the G Force Direct X 8.1 problem
In my case everything worked fine until I ran a windows crit update then it would no longer recognize my card as compatable.
