I turned off onboard audio and installed Soundblaster Live Value because of static sound. But Doom3,Homeworld2 suffered weird grafic problem(because I could not update driver to Soundblaster at all. Many tries and read the other had same problem. I had it and removed sound card ,switched onboard audio back on. When I reinstalled Nvidia driver ,but only audio driver that it is.
It installed control panel before, but not anymore.
I can not use control panel and it is missing on task panel too. Stereo sound is not right anymore. Impossible set speaker or equalizer that is not there .
Lets explain what I did.Put in Nvidia CD.Driver menu pops up.Clicked on Nvidia nForce driver. InstallShieldWizard pops up and it installed.Disapperad. Nothing happened. It is supposed to run the more file but it stopped. In control panel I clicked on Nvidia ctr panel .Error box reads.Failed initialize Nvidia audio driver. Please install and try again. I can not even install it! I need help!

You say the Nvidia control panel won't install. Did you uninstall nvidia drivers completely and then try to re-install? If so...then after the uninstall and re-boot, windows probably automatically detected new hardware (the video card now in need of a driver after you uninstalled Nvidia) and the hardware wizard installed a default windows (safe) VGA to CPU controller. When this happens, the new Driver software doesn't always install properly since a VGA driver is already there.

The other possibility is you're using a motherboard with a VIA chipset and you re-installed the VIA 4 in 1 drivers manually which also include a VGA to CPU controller driver and will cause the same problem as the windows default driver installing (as described above.)

If your graphics are working ok then the above probably isn't the problem and I've just given myself carpel tunnel for nothing....haha!!

Assuming your graphics don't look right and one of the above scenarios is the problem (meaning the Nvidia drivers didn't reinstall)
then proceed as follows:

FIRST you need to uninstall the current AGP to CPU Controller driver.

Go to START - CONTROL PANEL - SYSTEM - HARDWARE - DEVICE MANAGER and scroll down to SYSTEM DEVICES near the bottom of the list and click the + to expand it. Go down to VIA CPU TO AGP CONTROLLER and click to open it. Then click DRIVER on the top menu then choose UNINSTALL. After you uninstall the driver, the system may immediately advise you of New hardware found or it may not do it until a re-boot. Either way, when you're prompted by the hardware wizard click CANCEL. If it pops up more than once... CANCEL out. THEN put your Nvidia driver CD in and install the software and reboot. It should install the drivers and control panel properly now.

Be advised some sound cards don't work properly with certain programs, tv cards, or other drivers. I can't use my 6 channel sound card with my hauppage wintv but they each work fine if only one of the cards is installed. (I chose the TV of course.)

You can also try another PCI slot if there are conflicts. This helps sometimes but not always.

One more thing. If you should ever re-install windows (and have a VIA chipset on the motherboard) when re-installing the VIA drivers from the Motherboard support CD, Choose to install all options EXCEPT VIA CPU to AGP Controller adapter...then Install your Nvidia software.

Good luck and let me know how you make out.
Dave
