NTVDM.exe problem

Comment:
I have Win2000 Advanced Server and it seems that I have a virus. However, the problem I want to fix first, is that every 2 seconds or so, NTVDM.exe seems to run and then goes away. By running, the system is taking 80% resources and then goes away. I cannot stop the process since by the time I click NTVDM.exe, the process leaves and then 2 seconds later comes back. What can I do stop this? Can I just delete NTVDM.exe from System32? Thanks, please let me know.

The virus is WHY you're getting the NTVDM problem - and you couldn't kill it even if you could "catch" it in time. NTVDM is the Windows Virtual Machine for "old" 16-bit windows and DOS programs - what you're seeing is the virus running under NTVDM.
The solution is obvious.
